I think Malaga ice cream is one of those flavors that is seriously underrated. Everyone knows it in some way, but hardly anyone makes it at home — and that’s actually a shame. Because in the Ninja Creami**, Malaga ice cream turns out incredibly well: super creamy, lightly sweet, and with that distinctive flavor from rum and raisins.
If you’ve only ever had the classic ice cream shop version, you’ll be surprised at how much better homemade Malaga ice cream can be. You can adjust the sweetness perfectly, control the rum precisely, and above all, you get a texture that really impresses.
Why Malaga Ice Cream Works So Well in the Ninja Creami**
The Ninja Creami is made for classic flavors like this. Especially with ice cream that includes mix-ins like raisins, it really shines, because the texture doesn’t just end up frozen — it becomes wonderfully smooth and creamy.
Malaga ice cream already has a special structure thanks to the combination of a milk base and rum-soaked raisins. In the Ninja Creami, everything is taken to the next level because it blends together beautifully while still leaving little bits intact.
What Makes Malaga Ice Cream So Special
Unlike many modern ice cream flavors, Malaga ice cream is more old-school — but that’s exactly what makes it so appealing. It has this slightly bold, aromatic taste from the rum, paired with the natural sweetness of raisins.
That’s what makes it taste not just sweet, but somehow more rounded and balanced. It’s an ice cream you enjoy intentionally, not just something you eat in passing.
What I love about Malaga ice cream: it’s super easy to adapt.
For example:
- a little vanilla for more depth
- chopped nuts for extra crunch
- less sugar for a lighter version
That way, you can easily turn a classic recipe into your own personal version.

Malaga ice cream in the Ninja Creami is one of those flavors I make once and then keep coming back to. It’s not as basic as many other ice cream recipes, and that’s exactly what makes it special.
If you’re in the mood for a creamy ice cream with character, you should definitely give this a try.
