Stracciatella Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami** – creamy, crunchy, and easy

Stracciatella ice cream is one of those flavors that just always works for me. It isn’t too heavy, not overly sweet, and the fine chocolate pieces give it that perfect mix of creamy and crunchy. And honestly: the Ninja Creami** does this combination really well.

If you’ve ever thought that homemade stracciatella ice cream could never taste like the one from an ice cream shop, it’s worth reconsidering. With the Ninja Creami, you can control the texture extremely well.

Why Stracciatella works so well in the Ninja Creami**

What makes stracciatella ice cream special is not just the base, but especially the chocolate. Those delicate, slightly crisp shards running through the ice cream are what really define it.

With the Ninja Creami**, you have the advantage of making the base perfectly creamy first and then folding in the chocolate in a targeted way. That way, you don’t end up with hard chunks, but with the fine chocolate flecks you actually want.

What I find especially important with stracciatella ice cream is balance. The base should be mild and creamy so the chocolate stands out, but not so much that it overwhelms everything else.

Common mistakes when making stracciatella ice cream

A common mistake is simply mixing in the chocolate as-is, which gives you large pieces instead of those fine shards.

But if you melt the chocolate first, let it cool slightly, and then stir it in, you get the tiny chocolate pieces that are so characteristic of stracciatella ice cream.

For me, stracciatella ice cream in the Ninja Creami is the perfect blend of simple and special. It’s not a complicated recipe, but the result looks and tastes much more premium than you’d expect.

If you feel like having creamy ice cream with a little texture, stracciatella is definitely one of the best flavors for making the most of the Ninja Creami**.

  • 50 ml cream
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla paste
  • 2.50 tbsp sugar
  • 40 g dark chocolate

Method

  1. Add all ingredients except the chocolate to a Ninja Creami container and stir to combine.
  2. Freeze for at least 24 hours.
  3. Melt the dark chocolate and let it cool in the fridge while we prepare the ice cream.
  4. Remove the ice cream from the freezer and select the Ice Cream setting.
  5. If the ice cream turns out very powdery, run one more Respin cycle; otherwise continue with the next step.

  7. Use the Extra setting to mix it in. You should now have the classic little chocolate pieces.
