What can I say—I gave in. A Ninja Slushi machine** has now moved into our home too. The good news: from now on, you’ll find plenty of delicious slushi recipes here, because just freezing juice feels a bit too boring, doesn’t it? We’re taking things step by step, and today we’re starting with a fairly simple recipe: a Ninja Slushi Ipanema-style drink.
The Ipanema has long been one of my all-time favorite non-alcoholic cocktails. Fresh, slightly tangy, a little sweet, and above all incredibly refreshing. Those are exactly the qualities that make it the perfect base for a slushi. Because if it already works well as a drink, it tastes just as good in a semi-frozen version.

What surprised me right away during the first batch was how much difference the texture makes. A regular drink is mixed in no time and gone just as quickly. A slushi, on the other hand, naturally slows you down. You scoop or sip it instead of just drinking it down fast. Especially on warm days, that makes a slushi wonderfully refreshing.
This Ninja Slushi Ipanema is especially perfect for anyone who doesn’t like things overly sweet. The combination of fruity acidity and a light bitterness creates a pleasant balance that many classic slushies simply don’t have. If you prefer it a little more tart, you can also replace the lime syrup with lime juice.

A slushi also just always looks great. The lightly crystalline texture, the fresh colors, and the glass fogging up on the outside. When you have guests over, a drink like this instantly makes more of an impression than a regular juice or soda.
All in all, the Ninja Slushi Ipanema is the perfect starting point into the world of slushies for me: uncomplicated, refreshing, and with enough character to keep it interesting. It’s just right for getting a feel for what’s possible—and honestly, it’s a little dangerous too, because afterward you immediately want to try the next variations.
